Hey! I'm Nadia.

Well... If you're basically going to read my diary, you might as well know who I am and what this is all about.

I'm Nadia, but you can call me Nads. I'm twenty-one years old and I have a really cute kitten named Jack, who's currently trying to get his word in on the keyboard, too. I grew up in the very small, very boring town of Pictou County, Nova Scotia, with my Mom and Nana. When I was seventeen and had quite enough of it here, I decided to move in with my Dad, my Step-Mom, and my baby brother and sister in Bedford. I then graduated from Charles P. Allen High School and attended a semester of Journalism at The University of King's College before I dropped out. Doing a co-op program with Halifax Regional Police right before University and falling in love with it didn't bode well with my whole King's plan. It's been over a year of change, growth, and real, real-life since then and I'm not sure what my next move is yet. Policing, writing, journalism, psychology... Nova Scotia, Ontario, B.C., Alberta... Stay tuned!

(Update: I did move across the country... but then a pandemic hit, I came home to Halifax, got my first apartment and am now in year 2 of a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Psychology and minors in Writing and Neuroscience at Mount Saint Vincent University... and I finished 1st year with honours. AND 'Trichotillomania" won runner-up in a writing contest. :') Who woulda thought? Not me!)

Anyway, I began writing poetry and journal entries around the time I stopped reading so many books, as this was the time that my story began. These are collected entries from my journals, dating all the way back to good ol’ 2015.

Originally, I collected and edited my journals for the purpose of one project. I’m still not sure if it would have been classified as a project, novel, poetry collection, etc. I have been working on it for a little over two years now, and I have shared and unshared it, I’ve added to and removed from it.

I didn’t think that I would ever feel this project was finished, as it is simply my story, which is only beginning. I doubt that there will come a time where I can write one last entry with a happy ending or an answer or a big epiphany with everything figured out.

I debated sharing my work with anyone since I began transferring cursive to keyboard in 2017. Two years later and I am pleased enough with it to begin sharing, though it posed a few ethical and emotional dilemmas for me. My journals contain very personal information about not only myself but others (that may well never make their way onto this site). This is why a few names may be left out, though the majority of people I expect to read this will know how to fill in the blanks. I decided against changing names as I feel it would contradict the integrity of the rawness and vulnerability I feel brings beauty to the project.

This brings me to now. I don’t feel comfortable or prepared enough to go any further at this point with that whole project, so I’ve created this. I hate to call it a blog for some reason. Love to bloggers, it just doesn’t feel right for this. To me, it is more of a platform for my collection of writing. And this platform perfectly caters to how I’d like to go begin sharing my words.

And I am so excited to begin sharing my words with you!

Xo, Nads
